Ronald M. Bergeron, Sr.

J.R. Bergeron has over 20 years of heavy construction, design build, site development, and emergency services experience, including processing more than two million cubic yards of hurricane debris after Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Most recently J.R. and his team completed a large scale recycling project for Broward County Waste & Recycling Services. The project consisted of processing over 1.8 million cubic yards of hurricane debris, including vegetative, hazardous and non-hazardous materials that had been stockpiled for more than five years.
As president of Bergeron Land Development, Inc. and Owner/Founder of Bergeron Emergency Services, Inc., he coordinates bidding, contract negotiations, management and control of all projects from airports, FDOT projects, municipal disaster recovery contracts, SFWMD projects and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers projects valued at more than one billion dollars. His breadth of work spans across various County agencies throughout South and Central Florida, especially Broward County.
Lonnie Bergeron has an extensive background in land development working on both commercial and residential projects such as The Bergeron Park of Commerce and Industry and many of South Florida’s residential housing developments. Lonnie is a Certified General Contractor and Certified Underground Utility and Excavation Contractor, as well as a Licensed Qualifier for Bergeron Land Development, Bergeron Emergency Services, and Bergeron Sand, Rock and Aggregate. Lonnie has worked on highway projects such as the Sawgrass Expressway and I-595. He also has experience in the telecommunications industry, construction aggregates mining, and municipal solid waste disposal and recycling.
Lonnie Bergeron heads many of the fifty-four companies operating under the umbrella of The Bergeron Family of Companies. The Bergeron Family of Companies also believes in philanthropy and has contributed to over 4,000 charitable causes throughout their 50 years in business. Additionally, Lonnie donates his time to Everglades Restoration projects, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the YMCA Y-Princesses and Y-Guides programs and is a devoted family man and husband.
Phil Desai, CPA, Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Mr. Desai draws on over 20 years experience in the financial sector. He is responsible for all administrative, HR and risk management functions, managing banking relations as well as financial reporting, tax compliance, management information systems and accounting support for the Bergeron Family of Companies. He is also responsible for overseeing the investment portfolio of the Bergeron Family. Mr. Desai, a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Accountant, joined the Bergeron Family in 1998. Before joining the company, Mr. Desai worked in public accounting including Big 4 firm for over seven years assisting a wide range of clients, including real estate firms, cruise lines, financial institutions and construction companies.
Frank Saia, Vice President
With more than 20 years of experience as a licensed Florida real estate broker specializing in commercial and industrial real estate, Frank Saia offers a wealth of knowledge to his clients. As vice president for Bergeron Properties and Investment Corporation, he is skilled at real estate development, construction management, entitlements, asset management, leasing, marketing, and property management. Additionally, as asset manager for the Bergeron Family, he is responsible for various real estate investments from the Florida Keys to Michigan – including the Bergeron Park of Commerce & Industry, a 300 acre industrial/commercial park in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
Brian Thomason, Vice President
During his 18 year career in disaster recovery and debris management, Brian Thomason has participated in more than 100 large-scale debris management projects as a result of over 25 major disaster declarations, with simultaneous projects surpassing $300 million in value and managing over 10,000 employees. He has held a variety of positions from field supervision to incident manager providing him with an in-depth knowledge of disaster relief operations, FEMA public assistance including program resolutions, federal and state funding negotiations, and on-site OSHA and MOT compliance. Before joining Bergeron Emergency Services, Brian was the Deputy Director of Emergency Management in Cumberland County, North Carolina.
Dennis King, General Superintendent
Mr. King has 36 years of experience in the Heavy Civil Construction industry. He has been held positions from Heavy Equipment and Finish Operator to Project Superintendent. His direct construction experience includes working on dozers, loaders, graders and backhoes, planning and coordinating with subcontractors, organizing inspections and supervising the whole project. In his current position, Mr. King oversees numerous project superintendents and coordinates all field personnel and equipment between the projects.
Terry Bohannon, Equipment and Logistics Manager
Mr. Bohannon has been in the Heavy Construction/Heavy Equipment Industry for 46 years. As the equipment manager, Mr. Bohannon deals with all the companies equipment needs from fleet vehicles, heavy earthwork/roadway equipment to Draglines and mining equipment. Mr. Bohannon also deals with the purchasing of materials. These include large pumps, electrical materials, light poles, pipe and structures as a few examples.
Martha A. Perez, Human Resources/Loss Control Director
As Human Resources/Loss Control Director, Ms. Perez has 30+ years of diverse human resources and management experience. She has extensive hands-on experience leading HR initiatives including employee relations, performance management, recruiting, compliance reporting, and benefit/insurance administration. She is responsible for all Bergeron’s human resources and insurance functions. Mrs. Perez is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
